Founder

The Forge was founded by Ryan Whitelaw, a 25-year resident of Santa Cruz and longtime local business owner. After separating from his wife of nearly 20 years, Ryan experienced firsthand how isolating modern life can be for men—and how rare it is to have real spaces for connection.

Seeking support, he joined an online men’s group and discovered the power of brotherhood: men coming together, speaking truth, and holding one another accountable. The experience revealed something deeper—how essential it is for men to gather regularly, and how much has been lost in today’s culture.

Out of that realization, Ryan created The Forge: a place where men in Santa Cruz can meet in person, drop the mask, and sharpen one another into the men they’re called to be.

Purpose & Intention

The Forge exists to create depth—within ourselves and with one another. It is a space for men to be real, to strip away the mask, and to speak openly about life’s challenges and victories. Together, we sharpen one another and walk out stronger men for our families, our work, and our communities.

Who It's For

This group is for men who are serious about growth. Men who are ready to take ownership of their lives and be held accountable. Men willing to hear hard truths and speak them in return.
